Reflecting on 'Watch Me Die'

As this year's Edinburgh Fringe draws to a close, I found myself reflecting fondly on performing 'Watch Me Die' last year at both Camden Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe 2025.

Concocted by the creative minds of The Dead Fool Society, the one-man show was a dark, rave-inspired Shakespearean ballad. To be entrusted with such a role was an actor's dream, and an immense challenge.

I was fortunate to be working with such fantastic folks in the company that helped bring the show to life. A gruelling but enjoyable rehearsal week in Goole led us to the show's premiere in at Red Lion Theatre in Camden, and later, a week's run at TheSpace Surgeon's Hall at Edinburgh Fringe.

It was my first time attending the Fringe, and I found the atmosphere absolutely electric - heightened even moreso to hold the privilege of experiencing the festival as a performer. I met many wonderful people both in the audience, and whilst flyering.

Ending each evening drenched in sweat from the highly-physical show as I headed back to the campsite we called home for the week, I would certainly rest deeply. The lessons I learned as an actor over the course of the show's run will certainly be valuable ones I shall keep on my hand for the rest of my career.
